Marylou Morano Kjelle

Welcome

Writing is my life. I am a freelance writer and author of over 50 nonfiction books for young readers of all ages. In addition, I am a correspondent for several Central New Jersey publications, where I write book reviews and art exhibit reviews. I also write about other topics that fall under the heading of Arts and Entertainment.

Food is another passion of mine. In 2002, I went to Culinary Arts School and earned a Certificate in Culinary Arts. I don't work as a Chef, but I love to cook and write about food. Currently I teach a "Writing about Food" course at Middlesex County College in Edison, New Jersey.

I hold two Master's Degrees from Rutgers University. My first Master's is an M.S. in Animal Science. Back then I didn't know I was going to be a writer; I was planning to be a scientist. Looking back, I see now that science taught me the proper way to do research..... a necessary component of nonfiction writing.  Recently, I returned to Rutgers to earn an M.A. in English to become a better writer and a better writing teacher by studying the "masters" of classical literature.

Here are a few of my recent books:
